Registration
Writers, actors, and directors convene at the People’s Penthouse. They are randomly grouped into teams based on the tried and true name-in-a-hat method. The teams split off and discuss the theme of the week, kick around ideas, let each other know what they’re comfortable with, what they’re good at, etc.
Friday into Saturday
Writing
For the actors and directors, the night is over. For the writer, it has just begun. They will spend the next several hours creating a brand new play; characters, setting, plot, dialogue, out of nothing but the thoughts in their head. The only rule is that whatever they come up with must be 5-10 pages, it must have roles for each of the actors, and it must be delivered to their team by 8 am the next morning.
Saturday, 8AM
Rehearsal
The writer gets some much needed rest. The actors and director reconvene at the People’s Penthouse, bright and ready for a long day of rehearsal.
Saturday Night
Showtime
The show is performed. Where there was nothing, art has been created. Everyone pats themselves on the back.
